As stated on the label, unsealed pre-tape masking film usually has a 2–3 year shelf life. Keep it away from bright sunlight, strong heat, or humidity and in a cold, dry environment. Lay the tape flat rather than continually folding it to avoid adhesive deterioration over long term storage.
If the tape lift's edges raise during application, what should I do? Will this compromise the masking effect?
If the edges lift, gently press them back into place with your finger or a scraper-such as a credit card-to push them down from the edges toward the center, so guaranteeing complete contact. While little lifting might not have much effect on the finished outcome, pushing firmly is advised to stop paint or coating from leaking into gaps during spraying.
